A STAR IS BORN
IN ‘’KALEMATA’’, A STAR IS BORN …
It is in Kalémata, a village in the sub-prefecture of Bèna, capital
of Forécariah in Maritime Guinea that Seydouba BANGOURA was born.
Subject, like any child in his country, to an evolution according to the customs and
uses in force, to a normal evolution, he will nevertheless not have
the chance to begin an academic training. His passage from
childhood to adolescence then arouses the concern of his parents regarding
the preparation of a future for him. On this, a preparatory phase will direct him towards the Koranic school so that he is initiated
in an apprenticeship. But, the period of two (02) years will have been enough
as time for his mother to take the initiative to bring him to Kindia, a
city in the same region. Shortly after, he was taken to Coyah (in
1985), another city where he spent a good time (eight (08) years) without
any apparent prospect of being able to face life later.
INTEGRATION INTO A TRADE ….
In 1993, Seydouba BANGOURA, now young, was brought back
by his mother to Kindia to try to provide him with a trade. The choice
would be carpentry. He would take it up and, his assiduity would lead him, seven
(07) years later, to have mastered this trade and to be able to open
a workshop in which he would have to train several other children and young people.
Despite this outcome found which reassured his mother about his fate, the young
Seydouba BANGOURA had a penchant which, no doubt, was obvious
to his mother. In fact, she certainly did not notice that her son
had a talent that could be his future path. In parallel therefore
to his activities related to carpentry, he enjoyed spending time with
a few comedians among whom, he would have the chance to meet
a certain “Moussa Koffé” whose sketches had made him
a very famous actor known throughout Guinea for his talent
to provide laughter. The young Seydouba BANGOURA would then express to the
latter, his desire to belong to a troupe among the many that
exist in this city whose artistic action is at the highest level.
SEYDOUBA BANGOURA JOINED THE TROUPE ‘’AKINOU AKÈGNA’’ …
Time passed, and Seydouba BANGOURA’s stated desire to
train in professional comedy ended up being taken seriously by
‘’Moussa Koffé’’ who decided to face the ambitions of his young
admirer. The choice was then made on the troupe ‘’AKINOU AKÈGNA’’.
Gradually, he became familiar with the members of the troupe and, little by
little, his talent appeared. He began to play roles in which,
the spirit of morality of the troupe’s sketches was highlighted. Some
amateur films were made, often in difficult conditions
with paltry means, but, the courage and love for the said art
were highlighted. It is now a life between the workshop and the Maisons
of culture for rehearsals. A HOPE IS BORN …
The troupe ‘’AKINOU AKÈGNA’’ continues its activities as best it can.
The fact remains that none of the members of the group
prospects for a large-scale ambition. Their only
motivation is just the pleasure of spreading laughter during ceremonies of
rejoicing or during shows organized in places in which the public needs to be entertained before the passage of
professional artists. Things will be like this for several years
and, time creating its realities, a glimmer of hope will appear on the
horizon.
Indeed, the only television channel available at the time is the
so-called national one (Radio Télévision Guinéenne ‘’RTG’’). To get away from
the monotony, the journalists of this Communication Directorate
in Guinea must, at all times, think of television initiatives.
This is how the show ‘’LET’S LAUGH A LITTLE’’ was created. It was a question of broadcasting
a short humorous sketch to, on the one hand, cheer up
the viewers and, on the other hand, introduce the comedians of the
country.
THE REVELATION …
Several sketches will thus be broadcast one after the other. Produced in
vernacular languages, the Guinean populations who recognize
themselves more easily in these languages, remain very attentive
since, in general, it is a question of the restitution of the usual facts of their
society
The city of Kindia was therefore in turmoil following the will of one of its natives who was, at the time, an influential personality, demonstrations were regularly organized. Thus, during a cultural and artistic activity, Lamine KOMA (in charge of the program “RION UN PEU”) accompanied by his cameraman named Oumar “Police” will request the troupe “AKINOU AKÈGNA” to perform a sketch that they will broadcast on national television. The film sketch “KOUNANYI” is produced and broadcast on national television. A masterstroke, it is applauded by the viewers who never tire of watching it again at all times. The different actors of the troupe are then perceived as
stars, but among them, Seydouba BANGOURA identified under the
nickname of ‘’KARAMÖKHÖ KABAKOUDOU’’ will play the role of a
religious character who will have to interpret the dream of a resident of the
village staged, is, for his part, seen as the star among them.
He then arouses the curiosity of the populations, who now call him
‘’KABAKOUDOU’’. He begins to be invited by personalities and
other great people who give him gifts and encourage him
for his talent. Young and old, everyone enjoys spending
a few moments with him.
